BIR’s Memorial Day racing is a Showdown
Brainerd International Raceway hosts the first major race of the 2014 season Memorial Day weekend. The 6th Annual Street Car Showdown is a double-header with the kick-off for the three-race Muscle Car Series on the drag strip and the return of the SCCA Harvey West Classic on the 2.5-mile Competition Road Course.
On the drag strip, the Muscle Car Series is an impressive display of power and speed, featuring the seven Heads-Up Classes, some of which top 200 mph running at 6-7 seconds. Drivers are competing for cash, trophies and series points that lead to a series championship. Time trials and qualifying are Friday and Saturday, with eliminations on Sunday.
On the Competition Road Course, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) brings national and regional racers to BIR for the Harvey West Classic. You’ll see a variety of race cars piloted by some of the country’s top amateur road racers.
Live music Saturday night at The Wheelie Bar & Grille.
