The 26th Annual Muscle Car Shootout on Labor Day weekend is a perennial favorite at BIR and is a great way to cap off your summer. The event features the Muscle Car Series’ grand finale, the Trans Am Series, the SCCA Jack Pine Sprints and a new event, the Pirelli World Challenge.
The Pirelli World Challenge is one of the fastest-growing racing circuits in the country and North America’s top production car-based championships. BIR’s race will feature the Touring Car A and Touring Car B classes in a sprint format with 50-minute races from start to finish on Saturday and Sunday. Fans will see cars like the Honda Civic Si, Mazdaspeed3, VW Jetta, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Mini Cooper, Mazda2, Honda Fit and Kia Rio.
SCCA Pro Racing returns to the Shootout for a 40-lap, 100-mile Trans Am Series race on Sunday, featuring Trans Am, Trans Am2 and Trans Am3 classes, all of which will be on the track at the same time. You can be guaranteed phenomenal racing when these drivers on the track.
On the drag strip, the Muscle Car Series will be wrapping up the season, as drivers duke it out for series championships. The seven Heads-Up Classes will be center stage, featuring cars with huge horsepower that can get down the track in 6-7 seconds and crank out speeds of 200+ mph. It’s heads-up drag racing at its finest, featuring some of the fastest cars in the Midwest.
The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) will be sharing the road course with the Trans Am Series and Pirelli World Challenge Saturday and Sunday for the Jack Pine Sprints, an annual tradition featuring regional drivers competing in various classes.
There’s a lot happening off the track this weekend as well. On Saturday, a classic car show will be on the infield behind the main grandstand, and Uncle Chunk will provide live music at The Wheelie Bar & Grille.
What a way to end the summer!
