With $100,000 on the line, snowmobile racing series comes to Garrison, Brainerd International Raceway.

(February 8, 2008) – When the AMSOIL Triple Crown presented by Polaris snowmobile racing series comes to Lake Mille Lacs, Brainerd International Raceway and the LCO Casino this month, racers will be competing for part of a $100,000 series purse.

The three-race series, which starts with the Mille Lacs 200 in Garrison Feb. 16-17, is high-stakes head-to-head snowmobile racing that combines the thrill of snocross racing with the endurance of cross-country racing. And with $100,000 in prize money waiting at the end of the series, fans can expect to witness some fierce competition on the track.

The three races, which are sanctioned by the United States Cross Country Snowmobile Association, are as follows:

• Feb. 16-17 – Mille Lacs 200 on Lake Mille Lacs at Garrison
• Feb. 23-24 – BIR 200 at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minn.
• March 1-2 – Hayward Area Chamber of Commerce Hayward 300 presented by the LCO Casino in Hayward, Wis.

More than 150 professional and amateur racers are expected to compete in the series. Each leg of the series has a $25,000 purse, with an additional $25,000 awarded to the racers who accumulate the most points during the series events. It’s the first year of the $100,000 purse and the largest guaranteed cash payout for this style of racing, said Sled Head 24/7’s Scott Lorentz. Sled Head 24/7 is the lead promoter for the series.

“A combination of factors has allowed us to guarantee the $100,000 purse,” Lorentz said. “In addition to great support from our sponsors in getting this off the ground, hosting all three races for the series in popular snowmobile destination communities makes for great potential. We’re really happy with the way Garrison, BIR and Hayward, along with the LCO community, all stepped up to help us continue to grow this event.”

In addition to the racer purse, $12,000 in door prizes and give-a-ways will be given to spectators, all of whom will be eligible to win one of two series grand prizes; a two-place Sled Bed Trailer courtesy of Newman’s Manufacturing and a Yamaha Phazer courtesy of Brothers Motorsports. Other prizes at all three races include Pure Polaris gift cards, WeFest tickets and FXR clothing.
