IWA Watercross skips into BIR for a Triple Event Weekend
The International Watercross Association (IWA) is bringing snowmobile watercross racing to BIR again this summer for two Wet & Wild Weekends, starting June 9-11 when the IWA will team up with Superbike racing on the road course and drag racing on the quarter-mile track. All three events will be going on simultaneously, making for a motorsports trifecta for fans. A single ticket gets you in to see all three events.
Watercross is crazy fun racing that you can’t miss. Lake BIR, the pond in the middle of BIR’s VIP RV Campground, is transformed into a race track for snowmobiles as they race on open water. There will be drag racing (from one shore across the lake to the other) and oval racing, where racers make four or five laps around bouys. Eight classes will race: Pro Open, Pro Stock, Semi Pro Open, Semi Pro Stock, Women’s Ovals, Mod Drags, 800 Drags and 600 Drags.
While snowmobiles are skipping across the water on Lake BIR, the Central Roadracing Association (CRA) will be on BIR’s 2.5-mile Competition Road Course with Superbike riders flying around the tight 13 turns on two wheels and a knee. Over on the drag strip, more than 250 drag racers will be center stage for the three of six The Bracket Drag Racing Series weekends.
The IWA will be back at BIR for Wet & Wild 2.0 on Sept. 23-24. This is a dual event weekend, with watercross on the lake and CRA Superbike Racing on the road course for its final racing weekend of the season at BIR.
Fans get all of that for a single ticket. Daily admission is $25.
