2012 Muscle Car Shootout is Muscle Car Series grand finaleAnnual drag race to share track with SCCA Trans-Am Series again
Joining the Trans-Am Series on the Competition Road Course this weekend will be the SCCA's Jack Pine Sprints, featuring SCCA regional racers competing in a number of classes.
For drag racing fans, the Muscle Car Shootout provides incredible racing, thanks to the Muscle Car Series. The Shootout is the third and final race in the series and will determine the series champions in 10 different classes, including the "fast five" classes: Pro Outlaw, Outlaw, King Street, Real Street and True Street. These are cars with huge horsepower that can get down the track in 6 or 7 seconds and crank out speeds of 200+ mph. It's heads-up drag racing at its finest, featuring some of the fastest cars in the Midwest. The race also features 10 Index classes, three Strip Eliminator classes and the Truck Eliminator Class. The winners of the Index classes have a separate run-off to crown the Index Class Champion. It's a full weekend of racing, with qualifying runs Friday and Saturday and eliminations on Sunday.
The Muscle Car Shootout will be awesome racing on the drag strip. The SCCA Trans-Am Series will be bigger and better than ever, with two series classes racing on the track all at one time, which means high car counts on the track at the same time. Adding to the racing is the Playboy MX-5 Cup, Formula Enterprise Pro (open wheel formula car racing) and Spec Racer Ford Pro covers the sports racer category.
