The first day of qualifying during the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals was incredible, with Jack Beckman ripping off the third fastest Funny Car time in history. Qualifying continues Saturday, with pro sessions starting at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
Glen DeMenge beat out 51 other Stock/Super Stock drag racers Saturday to win the Midwest Class Racers’ Paul Bunyan Classic. It was part of the Bracket Drag Racing Series, which only has one weekend left.
With only four more chances to earn series points, drivers in BIR’s Bracket Drag Racing Series will be going to war this weekend on the drag strip. The point standings are tight, so racing should be intense!

The Central Roadracing Association will be racing Superbikes this weekend, as scheduled, Friday through Sunday. The Wednesday Night Street Drags, however, will be cancelled, including the drifting program. All other events after Wednesday will go on as scheduled.
Straight-line winds clocked as high as 70 mph ripped through BIR Sunday night, causing extensive damage. Volunteers are needed to help clear trees and debris. Wednesday Night Street Drags this week are cancelled.

This weekend’s Bracket Drag Racing Series brings more great racing action to BIR, but it’s also a chance for 14 drivers to earn the title of King of the Track. That’s on Saturday, along with the regular racing program.
Joseph Wilzcek and Greg Schmidt won the Pro Outlaw and Outlaw classes, respectively, during the PleasureLand RV Show & Go, which was the second leg of the Muscle Car Series. Things are getting interesting going into the grand finale Labor Day weekend.
Sunday’s Trans Am Series race was a dandy, with Amy Ruman taking the TA win. The most exciting battle was in TA2, where Duluth’s Tommy Archer lost the lead with three laps to go and finished second.
