BIR’s Bracket Drag Racing Series ended Sunday, with six racers taking home Wally trophies by winning their class during the annual National Dragster Challenge. Everyone was battling for series points and a shot at a series championship.
BIR announced the new champions of the Muscle Car Series. The three-race series on the drag strip provided some incredible racing, as cars in the seven Heads-Up Classes continue to get faster and faster. Only two racers, Rick Schmidt and David Senderhauf, repeated as champs this year.
BIR’s 40-member drag racing team took first place at the NHRA West Central Summit Racing ET Finals at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kan., last weekend. Brandon Schmall and Jimmy Paulson took first in their respective classes as well. Congratulations to all!
This weekend features the finale of BIR’s Bracket Drag Racing Series. Racers will be competing for series championships as well as a Wally trophy during Saturday’s National Dragster Challenge.
A 40-member drag racing team representing BIR will compete against teams from 15 other tracks in the NHRA’s annual ET Finals competition. BIR took third last year but looks to improve on that this year.
The Modern Automotive Performance Proving Grounds returns for the second of two weekends this season. Imports and sport compacts turn BIR into a turbo-charged playground, with drag racing, drifting, autocross, open lapping and a lot more.
Bill Krech earned his first win in Pro Outlaw while Jake Delmonico returned to the Winner’s Circle in Outlaw during the GSTA Muscle Car Shootout, which is the grand finale of the three-race Muscle Car Series.
The GSTA Muscle Car Shootout returns to BIR and features the grand finale of the Muscle Car Series on the drag strip and SCCA Jack Pine Sprints on the road course. A classic car show, live music and unique handmade fireworks round out the schedule.
Despite a 3-hour rain delay, NHRA race fans were treated to an insane day of racing Sunday, as national records fell in all four classes as drivers took advantage of cool temps and a strong tail wind to post ridiculous times and speeds.
Jack Beckman qualified No. 1 in Funny Car after posting the quickest time in NHRA history. Richie Crampton in Top Fuel, Shane Gray in Pro Stock and Andrew Hines in Pro Stock Bike all head into Sunday’s eliminations No. 1.
