Bracket Drag Racing Series gears up for second event

More than 250 cars are expected this weekend for the Bracket Drag Racing Series at Brainerd International Raceway. It’s a Dual Event Weekend with the BMW Car Club of America’s North Star Chapter on BIR’s 2.5-mile Competition Road Course.

This is the second of six weekends for the Bracket Drag Racers. Each weekend is a double-header, with time trials and elimination rounds both Saturday and Sunday – that’s two chances each weekend for racers to win and collect valuable series points in their pursuit of a series championship.

Fans will see 250-plus dragsters, cars, trucks, bikes, snowmobiles and Junior Dragsters competing in 10 different classes. Saturday’s race also includes the NHRA Summit Racing Junior Drag Racing League Challenge, which is a chance for the Junior Dragster drivers to win a Wally trophy like the pros win. The three Junior Dragster classes are divided by age: 8-9, 10-12 and 13-18.

Gates open daily at 7 a.m. The drag racing program includes Test & Tune from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and then time trials and eliminations starting at 9 a.m. daily. The BMW Car Club starts daily at 8 a.m.

Daily admission is $20, and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the front gate and are good for both events.
