Two drag racers who will be gunning for consecutive championships this year in the Muscle Car Series are Keith Sands and Jake Delmonico, both of who were featured in their hometown newspapers. They both will be competing this weekend during the 7th Annual Street Car Showdown, which kicks off the three-race series. The other two races are the PleasureLand RV Show & Go over the Fourth of July weekend and the GSTA Muscle Car Shootout on Labor Day weekend.
Keith Sands won the series championship last year in the Manual Transmission class, driving his 1966 GTO. His 20-year-old son, Kevin, also did well in the series, taking runner-up honors last hear in the Strip Eliminator 1 class. He drives a 1983 Olds. Delmonico and his 1968 Camaro is shooting for a three-peat in the Outlaw Class. It was looking like he was going to sweep the class for the second straight year in 2014 before losing in the finals of the GSTA Muscle Car Shootout. He was featured in the South Washington County Bulletin. Click
